Yeah, sorry about the lack of posting. School is over for me in around two weeks, so I have tons to do as I wrap up high school with projects, college stuff, and most of all.....
Guard tryouts!
You see, I've been in guard* for the past four years of my life, and I'm going to miss it so much. I'm helping our beloved coach out with tryouts this year, which is so bittersweet, as I remember my freshman tryouts...I was so convinced that I wasn't going to make it! Progress is slow, but everyone is getting that routine! I'm pretty excited for the year to come and I hope that it is as good as (or even better than!) last year.
Now, on to some news:
-Went to state, avoided people who tried to use cancer fundraising as a front...to buy beer (that's just sick)
-Got a III on my ensemble. Now a three isn't bad, but with the state of my quartet (as in, we didn't get much practice in, and one of the girls had surgery just a couple of days before, but was such a trooper and played with us!)
-Finished my part for my thirty-minute presentation in Speech...and no, this isn't our final. DUN DUN DUUUUN!
As the insanity is swirling all around me, it's hard to keep grounded. This month especially, I feel like my faith is being tested constantly. Yet God loves me all the same. And for that, I'm very grateful.
*Guard. Oh, how do I explain this one? Well, for those who aren't familiar with us, we're the people who run around the field among a marching band. We're usually holding flags, but we spin (NOT twirl, mind you.) rifles and sabres as well. This is color guard, and it's from August to October. Winter guard, on the other hand, is from November to April, and is done indoor, on a tarp, and with a recorded song instead of a band. It's more dance oriented as opposed to marching, and uses the same equipment.
The picture below is of me and a fellow captain at captain's retreat, where we receive our score. As this year's theme for our school was "Cops and Robbers" (based on the song of the same title by the Hoosiers; give it a listen if you want!), we're dressed in the outfits of a cartoony robber and cop.
I'm the robber. :)
And this is the part where I realize that this is the first time that the readers have seen my face on this blog...Way to go, Maggie.
